Detective Conan’s latest film, Fallen Angel of the Highway, promises an action-packed chase on the road. Directed by Taka Hero Haswi and written by Takairo Okura, this new installment takes a different approach compared to previous Detective Conan stories. The focus here is on high-speed action and character drama rather than conventional mystery cases.
Set in Yokohama, the film follows Chihaya Hagiwara, the leader of the motor division in Kanagawa Police, as she pursues the mysterious biker, “Lucifer,” using the advanced motorbike, “Angel.” The story unfolds connections to her late brother, Kenji Hagiwara, and Matsuda Jinpe, triggering dark memories for Conan to unravel the mystery behind “Lucifer.”
The Fallen Angel of the Highway culminates in a historical showdown between the Black Fallen Angel (Lucifer) and the Goddess of Wind (Angel). Alongside Conan Edogawa, the key characters in the film include Ran Mouri, Chihaya Hagiwara, Kenji Hagiwara, and Jenpei Matsuda, introducing new characters as well. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Detective Conan anime series, this film marks the 29th release in the franchise.
Originally launched as the manga Case Closed in 1994, Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama follows Shinichi Kudo, a high school student whose body shrinks after being poisoned by the Black Organization mafia. Living as Conan, he seeks to track down the organization while solving murder cases with Kogoro Mouri, a seemingly incompetent detective.
Equipped with high-tech gadgets created by Professor Agassa, Conan’s iconic tools include a voice-changing bow tie, a watch with tranquilizer darts, tracking glasses with audio sensors, speed-enhancing shoes, a belt with hidden compartments, and a solar-powered skateboard. With over 1,159 chapters released as of March 2026, the manga is set to go on a 5-week hiatus before resuming with Chapter 1160 on April 7, 2026, continuing its serialization in Weekly Shonen Sunday in Japan and releasing Volume 108 in April 2026.
