Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, reiterated his administration’s firm commitment to the education of the nation’s youth during his State Budget 2026 Financial Note address at the House of Representatives’ plenary session. He announced that the 2026 state budget will allocate Rp 757.8 trillion to education, marking the largest such allocation in the nation’s history. Emphasizing the significance of education in producing globally competitive human resources and eradicating poverty, Prabowo highlighted the allocation of 20% of the state budget to education as mandated by the constitution. He outlined the priorities for education funding, including enhancing teacher welfare and quality, strengthening vocational training, and aligning curricula with labor market demands. The breakdown of the education budget for 2026 includes funding for various programs such as Program Indonesia Pintar and Kartu Indonesia Pintar scholarships, as well as provisions for upgrading school and campus facilities. Prabowo also pledged to support Sekolah Rakyat and Sekolah Unggul Garuda to provide quality education for underprivileged children. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of advancing Indonesia’s capabilities in STEM fields. The government aims to increase scholarships provided by the LPDP to nurture a generation that is intelligent, innovative, and competitive on the global stage.
