President Prabowo Subianto recently visited Saudi Arabia on July 2–3, 2025, to strengthen cooperation in improving services for Indonesian pilgrims during their Hajj and Umrah journeys. During his visit, President Prabowo met with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah to express gratitude for Saudi Arabia’s dedication to serving pilgrims from Indonesia and around the world.
The meeting highlighted the close partnership between the two countries in ensuring the safety and comfort of Indonesian pilgrims during their religious activities. Both leaders agreed to enhance the quality of services for Indonesian pilgrims in upcoming Hajj seasons to ensure a seamless pilgrimage experience.
Aside from discussions related to Hajj matters, strategic agreements were made to deepen bilateral relations. The Saudi–Indonesia Supreme Coordination Council, led by the Crown Prince and President Prabowo, focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and technology. The trade between the two countries has been substantial, amounting to around USD 31.5 billion over the past five years.
Moreover, agreements were signed to encourage private sector investment, totaling approximately USD 27 billion. These investments are anticipated to create job opportunities in Indonesia, particularly in energy, industrial development, and environmentally sustainable technology sectors.
Both leaders also stressed the importance of collaboration in the health sector, specifically in meeting the medical requirements of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. They deliberated on the advancement of the pharmaceutical and vaccine industries and the enhancement of health workforce capacity.
Regarding international affairs, President Prabowo and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated their commitment to supporting peaceful conflict resolutions in the region. They endorsed a two-state solution for Palestine and underlined the role of international humanitarian organizations in promoting peace and stability.
The visit highlighted the strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia across various sectors, showcasing their shared efforts to improve services for Indonesian pilgrims and deepen cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
